Podcast Topic(s)
Since it wasn’t really feasible to publish a three-hour episode last time around, and since there wasn’t a particularly clean topical breakpoint in the audio stream, it both did and didn’t make sense to break Episode 123 up into two separate episodes. Hence, not unlike Origin Systems’ approach to the story of Ultima 7, this is really Episode 123 Part II, or 123.5 for convenience. As such, it features Harmony Dragon, Draxenath, and Golem Dragon yet again, as well as Withstand the Fury Dragon.
Topics covered include Wayne Gretzky and Dave Semenko (albeit WtF couldn’t recall the latter’s name during recording), and some differences between how Canadians and Americans play and view hockey as a sport. This morphs into a broader discussion about why Canada is great — it really is! — and then continues on into a discussion about the weird “CanCon” — Canadian content — regulations that the Canadian government imposes on broadcasters (in essence: a certain percentage of content played by any broadcaster has to be from Canadian artists).
This then puts us onto the topic of The Red Green Show (a comedy classic), actor Graham Greene and his Academy Awards snub, and the movie Dances With Wolves. The episode wraps up with a discussion of the different Minecraft versions, and some of the odd pieces of hardware that people have managed to run DOOM and Quake on.
