This week, we are pausing the readings of Through the Moongate for an interview with Mark Lemmert (also known as Nox Ffred Dragon). Mark is the lead developer on 6502 Workshop’s recently-released 8-bit RPG, Nox Archaist, which has been five years in the making.
Over the course of about an hour, Mark goes into detail about the process of finishing up work on the game, on testing it, and on some last-minute features that were incorporated (which will hopefully be to the delight of players). He also discusses some of the history of the game’s development, how it moved from being a passion project into something much, much more.
You can nab a digital copy of the game today, but if you’d like a boxed version — or the Collector’s Edition, which includes a cloth map, a Denis Loubet painting, a manual, a coin of the realm, and other feelies — you’ll need to pre-order soon, so that 6502 Workshop know how many to have printed for their second run of product.
Nox Archaist, though designed for the Apple ][ platform, will run on modern systems as well. The Windows and OS X versions of the game include the Nox App, which uses a customized version of Paleotronic’s Micro M8 emulator to run the game for you; all you need to do is launch the app.
